Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos spotted selling online for Rs 8,490, its most affordable 4-inch Android smartphone
An unannounced Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos (GT-S7392) smartphone is selling for Rs 8,490 on an e-retail store in India, FoneArena spotted. Samsung had recently mentioned its plans to launch affordable Android smartphones in India and the Galaxy Trend Duos seems to be one of them. Samsung has been facing stiff competition in the entry-level smartphone segment from local vendors, especially Micromax, which according to IDC has a 22 percent market share and is inching closer to Samsung’s 26 percent share. According to IDC, 67 percent of all smartphones shipped in India are priced under $200, which is where Samsung did not have much presence. However, with the introduction of the Galaxy Trend Duos, it is clear that Samsung won’t easily let go of market share.
Feature-wise, it is good to see that Samsung has ensured to offer some decent features on the phone, despite placing it in the sub-Rs 10,000 category to compete against its local counterparts. Like the previously launched Galaxy S Duos, the Galaxy Trend Duos also comes with a 4.0-inch WVGA display with 480×800 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor coupled with 512MB of RAM, 4GB internal memory and up to 32GB of external memory on microSD card. The phone runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Another point to notice is that though the phone supports 3G on one of the dual-SIMs, it lacks a front-facing camera and only features a 3-megapixel rear camera. The phone has proximity and ambient light sensors. Connectivity-wise, it offers Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS/AGPS, and dual-SIM support. The phone is available in black and white colors for Rs 8,490.
We are expecting Samsung to officially announce the Galaxy Trend Duos sometime this week.
