Samsung India likely to launch Galaxy S3 in May, Galaxy Note successor in Q3

Samsung is all set to become India’s biggest cellphone vendor by value by March this year even as it is working on adding new high-end smartphones to its already large portfolio. We have learned Samsung is still on track to launch the Galaxy Nexus in March, followed by the Galaxy S3 in May in India. According to people familiar with the matter, India was always in the second or third wave of Galaxy Nexus launch countries, though we have received mixed signals when we were told that the launch had been ‘rescheduled’ for January.
The Galaxy S2, which still remains to be Samsung’s largest selling Android smartphone in the high-end segment, will receive a price-cut sometime in between the two product launches. Though not very surprising, we are also hearing Samsung has done good numbers of the Galaxy Note without cannibalizing sales of either the S2 or its similar priced Tabs, highly placed sources within the company tell us. The Note is also scheduled to get an update later in Q3 of this year. Of course, Samsung will continue adding more phones to its entry and mid-level Android portfolio through the year.
