Samsung reportedly launches Galaxy Nexus in India for Rs 25,900 [update]

It seems Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy Nexus in India after officially acknowledging in May that it won’t be launched here, Twitter user @lastavenger spotted the elusive smartphone at a Samsung Store in Bangalore, where it is being sold for Rs 25,900.

Samsung has usually delayed the launch of Nexus smartphones in India, which would have cannibalized sales of its other smartphones. Even the last generation Nexus S was launched here close to the launch of the Galaxy Nexus. This time it seems Samsung wanted to ensure the Galaxy Nexus did not eat into the sales of the Galaxy S II and more importantly, the Galaxy S III. The Galaxy Nexus might have inferior specifications when compared to either of the products but it warrants a premium as it is among the first wave of devices to get any Android update. The photograph above indicates it is running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the only smartphone available in India to do so at the moment.

We have reached out to Samsung for a statement on whether it has indeed launched the Galaxy Nexus in India or not.

UPDATE: A Samsung spokesperson has denied that the company has launched the Galaxy Nexus in India.

Specification of the phone is completely wrong.
1 – screen 4.65″ super amoled (not plus)
    2 – it is hd resolution 1280 x 720 (not 480 x 800)
    3 – front camera is 1.5mp (not 2mp)

RSS feed of Samsung India shown Galaxy Nexus on September 13th, Google Nexus India page also says Galaxy Nexus is coming soon in India. I guess it will be launched in India soon, though it won’t make much of a difference now. Visit http://www.phonestabs.com/2012/09/17/samsung-galaxy-nexus-coming-india/ for more info..

You are wrong . The performance is at par with S2 . The HD screen of nexus blows the s2 screen in pieces in comparison .

i bought my nexus from australia. And now just after 6 months it is showing problems like restarting on making a call and all.mostly a software problem.a factory reset also didnt help.samsung service centre said since its not launched in india they dont have the software to check it.in short i am helpless.so never go for phones which are not launched in india bec if some issue happens then it will b a big loss of money.
