Samsung slashes Galaxy S III price, now available for Rs 34,900
Samsung has slashed the price of the Galaxy S III yet again and it is now available for Rs 34,900. This is the third major price drop the phone has received after its launch in June. Samsung had launched the Galaxy S III at a street price of Rs 42,500 but its price dropped to Rs 38,900 within a week after the launch. Many online retailers even started giving out discount coupons and freebies along with the smartphone to sweeten the deal. The price had somewhat stabilized to Rs 36,900 before today’s price cut.
Essentially, the Galaxy S III has shed about Rs 7,600 in slightly more than three months of its launch, which is not something one would expect from a product that Samsung claims is its fastest selling smartphone ever, having done 20 million units in 100 days since its launch. We wonder if things are slowing down for the Galaxy S III or whether Samsung is bracing itself for the launch of the iPhone 5. We suspect the former.
