Apple may be planning to decrease the prices of the iPhones that it will launch this year, in 2018. According to 9to5Mac, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released an investor-note pointing out that Apple is likely to “adopt a more aggressive price policy” by ensuring that upcoming smartphones will come at a comparatively cheaper price. The primary reason for this is to address concerns of “the negative impact of a higher price” in the market.

Another reason is the improvements made in the production yield including reduction of cost of components. Last reason that Kuo pointed out is that the company is likely to aim for a higher number of users to their new iPhones to strengthen the ecosystem and services that it offers by increasing the number of users. He went on to add that the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone X Plus is likely to be priced between $900 and $1,000, while the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone is likely to be priced between $800 to $900, and the LCD iPhone is likely to be priced between $600 and $700.

According to the report, the LCD model is likely to use the same iPhone X-like design along with the LCD display panel instead of the OLED panel. Kuo pointed out that Apple will launch these three models of iPhone at its hardware launch event in September. All the models will be available to customers in the same month instead of the expected delay that was reported earlier.

This report comes around the same time when Apple kicked off its annual developer conference, Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC 2018. Apple made a number of announcements included iOS 12, watchOS 5, improvements to tvOS, Siri-Shortcuts, macOS Mojave, the upcoming ability for developers to port their iOS apps to macOS, improved Apple CarPlay, Group FaceTime, and ARKit 2.0 at the keynote.
