A few months after Acer had globally introduced the Iconia A1-713 tablet, the company has launched it in India for Rs 12,999. The tablet comes with a quad-core chipset and offers 3G with voice calling support.
In terms of specifications, the Iconia A1-713 has a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1,024×600 pixels. It is powered by MediaTek MT8382 Cortex A7 quad-core processor ticking at 1.3GHz. On the memory front, it has 1GB of RAM coupled with 16GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. It has a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. The tablet packs a 3400mAh battery and comes in Silver. Connectivity features include support for 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi. The tablet also houses a 3,400mAh battery.
On the software front, the tablet runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which the company claims is upgradable to 4.4 KitKat.
At this price point, the Iconia A1-713 tablet will be up against Flipkart’s Digiflip Pro XT712. The tablet gets an edge over Acer’s offering as it brings similar or higher specifications at a comparatively lower price point. The Digiflip Pro XT712 comes with a 7-inch display with a higher resolution of 1,280×800 pixels and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK8382 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot that can be expanded by an additional 32GB. Other features in the tablet include a 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Connectivity-wise it offers dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, voice calling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. In addition to that Flipkart is offering freebies and discount coupons with the tablet. The tablet is priced at Rs 9,999.
The Iconia A1-713 also compete against the likes of Asus’s FonePad 7, which comes with a 7-inch IPS (1,280×800 pixels) display, a 1.6GHz Clover Trail Plus Z2560 dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It has a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera, and supports microSD card. Also, it offers dual-SIM connectivity with 3G support on one SIM. The tablet was launched for Rs 12,999, however is available at a price of Rs 11,999 online.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is another option to go with and comes with similar specifications including a 7-inch (1,024×600 pixels) display. It runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. It sports a 3-megapixel primary and a 1.3-megapixel secondary camera. The tablet costs Rs 13,499.
