On Wednesday Acer hosted its Next@Acer press event in New York City. At the event the company unveiled a range of new laptops, desktops, Chromebooks and accessories. However, the event kicked-off with Acer announcing its new range of gaming laptop and PCs. The list includes, the Predator Helios 500 and Predator Helios 300 gaming laptops and Nitro 50 series desktops in addition to the new Predator Orion 5000 and Predator Orion 3000 series.
Predator Helios 500 specifications and features
The Helios 500 runs on an overclocked Intel Core i9 processor, running alongside an GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. It can carry up to 64GB of RAM and can come with either a 1TB SSD or a 2TB hard drive. With the 17.3-inch screen, gamers can choose to go with a 4K display or a full HD display, which supports 144Hz refresh rates. The laptop also supports G-Sync technology and comes with dual Thunderbolt 3 and an HDMI 2.0 port.
For audio, the laptop comes with two speakers and a subwoofer that supports Acer TrueHarmony and Waves MAXXAudio technology. There is a backlit RGB keyboard which carries four lighting zones and supports up to 16.8 million colors. Additionally, the laptop has two proprietary AeroBlade 3D metal fans, and five heat pipes that facilitate better heat flow, while distributing cool air to the system. The fans speed can also be controlled by using the PredatorSense app.
Acer Predator Helios 300 specifications and features
The Helios 300, much like its predecessor falls under the budget-gaming laptop segment. It comes with an Intel Core i7 processor, running alongside the GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. It comes equipped with 16GB of RAM with the option to expand it up to 32GB. In the storage department, you can get the laptop with 512GB SSD and a 2TB hard drive. Besides being low-end, Acer promises the laptop to support high-end games and even VR applications.

The laptop comes with a smaller 15.6-inch full HD display with 144Hz refresh rate. The Helios 300 comes with all-metal AeroBlade 3D fans that can also be controlled by the PredatorSense app. Being a special edition laptop, Acer has designed its chunky build with an all-white aluminum chassis and golden accents.
Besides these, Acer also launched gaming accessories, starting off with two new monitors called, the Nitro VG60 and the Nitro R60. Acer also expanded its line of gaming accessories by introducing a new Predator Cestus 50 gaming mouse, Predator Aethos 500 mechanical keyboard, a gaming chair and a mousepad. All the devices and accessories are expected to go on sale in June.
