Aircel has launched new pocket friendly data plans to increase the internet adoption among masses. The Rs 24 plan is valid for 30 days and offers 100MB of data on accessing the Internet on mobile phones, which falls at an economical price of less than Re 1 per day. However, the cost for the data pack as well as the data limit may vary according to the circle. The plan is available for 2G as well as 3G services, depending up on the nature of Aircel services in the respective circle.
As per the operator, the Pocket Internet 24 will offer adequate data to familiarize with popular search engine and social networking websites. Aircel has introduced the plan in six circles including North East, Jammu & Kashmir, Orissa, Kolkata and Rest of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Bihar for now, and will be rolling it out in rest of the circles on April 24.
Last week, Vodafone had also introduced one such plan for Rs 25 for 2G and Rs 49 for 3G services and offered up to 500MB data for seven days from activation.
With the increasing adoption of smartphones and smart feature phones, such data plans will help operators to boost Internet usage amongst first time users on these phones, and will help carriers in pushing data services to a larger subscriber base.
