Bharti Airtel today announced that it had crossed 300 million subscribers on its mobile, fixed line and DTH services. Airtel had crossed its first 100 million subscribers in 2009, 200 million customers in 2012, and the latest milestone two years later.
“This milestone underlines the strength of our operations, which is one of the largest on a global scale,” Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and CEO (India and South Asia) Bharti Airtel said. “It is also a tribute to the ‘Airtel’ brand which is trusted by customers in 20 countries, making it the largest global consumer brand out of India.”
The company also announced that its mobile networks cover over 1.85 billion people across 20 countries and carry over 311 billion minutes of calls every quarter.
Earlier this year, Airtel announced another milestone having crossed 200 million mobile subscribers in India alone. Of more than 886.3 million mobile users in India, Airtel leads the pack, followed by Vodafone, which has more than 160 million users.
