Airtel has introduced a new pack for its prepaid subscribers, which offers 1GB of data. The prepaid pack is available for select users. If you are an Airtel subscriber, you can check for eligibility through the My Airtel app.
The prepaid pack is priced at Rs 65, and as part of the offer, you will get 1GB of 3G or 2G data which will be valid for 28 days. The drawback here is that the prepaid pack does not offer 4G data, which essentially means data loading will be slower, and you will have to rely on 3G or 2G depending on the region, TimesNow reports. There is a cheaper Rs 49 prepaid pack on offer by Airtel, which provides 2GB of 3G/4G data for a validity of 28 days. Airtel is also offering some users a daily data pack where you can avail 1GB of data quota for Rs 49.
As part of the operator’s continued war against Reliance Jio, a new offer for Airtel VoLTE Beta testers offers 30GB of free data. The idea behind the free data is to have beta testers provide feedback to the company ahead of the steady rollout of VoLTE services in the country. In return, the company will offer free data.
The beta testing program is currently live in select regions including Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, Assam, Kerala, Bihar, and Punjab. Airtel subscribers can participate in the VoLTE Beta testing program by first ensuring that their number qualifies for the program through the website. Next, subscribers are required to use VoLTE-enabled smartphone, and have a 4G SIM card. It is also required that the OS running on their smartphones is updated, and has the VoLTE enabled.
Coming back to the newly introduced prepaid plan; in comparison Reliance Jio offers a 2GB data plan which is priced at Rs 98. It is available for prepaid subscribers and valid for 28 days. Although it is priced higher than the Airtel plan, it offers more 4G data, along with unlimited voice calling, 300 SMS, and complimentary subscription to Jio suite of apps.
