Airtel just launched a new Rs 499 prepaid plan for all its users in the country. The new plan will be offering 2GB of data per day for 70 days. It joins Airtel’s line of 2GB prepaid packs that start from a price Rs 249 and go all the way up to Rs 499. Along with the data, the plan also offers unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day benefits.
The newly introduced plan competes with Airtel’s existing Rs 448 and Rs 499 plans. The Rs 448 plan offers 1.4GB data per day, but has a longer validity of 82 days. While the Rs 499 plan comes with the same 82 day validity, it offers 2GB of data per day. Both plans also carry unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day benefits.
Airtel seems to be expanding its range of prepaid plans in order to compete with other service providers, especially Jio. At the moment, Airtel has three 2GB prepaid plans that include Rs 249, Rs 449 and Rs 499. In the 1.4GB category, it has four plans, starting from Rs 199, Rs 399, Rs 448 and Rs 509. On the other hand, Jio has four plans in the two categories that start at Rs 149 and Rs 198, respectively.
