Airtel has announced a new plan for its prepaid subscribers, which offers unlimited voice calls and data benefits. The new plan is priced at Rs 995, and comes with a validity of 180 days.
As part of the new Rs 995 plan, prepaid subscribers can avail data benefits of 1GB 3G/4G internet per month. With validity of 180 days, this plan gives you a total data benefit of 6GB for six months. In addition to the long-term data benefit, the plan offers 100 free SMS per day, and unlimited voice calls including local and national roaming.
It is to be noted that unlike other plans where FUP on voice calls is applied, the new Airtel Rs 995 plan does not appear to have any such restrictions. Prepaid subscribers in Airtel circles including Delhi-NCR, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and other circles can avail this offer. The plan might seem long-term, but it benefits only those who have high calling needs. The data on offer, which is a mere 1GB per month, is currently the minimum data quota even on per day plans.
If compared to Airtel’s other long-term benefit plan, the Rs 995 plan counters the Rs 999 prepaid plan. As part of this plan, Airtel offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and a total of 60GB 3G/4G data for a validity period of 90 days (or three months). When you calculate, the Rs 995 plan comes across are expensive for those with data needs.
Reliance Jio also has a range of long-term validity prepaid plans. The one that counters Airtel’s latest offer is the Rs 999 plan. As part of the plan, Jio offers unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and 60GB total data for a validity of 90 days. In addition to the calling and data benefits, you also get access to the Jio suite of apps complimentary, along with no FUP limits on data usage.
A second Jio plan, with the same validity of 180 days, is priced higher at Rs 1,999. The plan comes with 125GB total data, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day, and the complimentary subscription to Jio apps.
