Keeping on the struggle against Reliance Jio, Airtel has launched a new one-day pack for prepaid users. In answer to Reliance Jio’s Rs 52 pack, Airtel has launched a pack for Rs 49. The data pack offers 1GB 3G/4G data, with a one-day validity. It is available via My Airtel app as well as the company’s website.
Airtel’s new 1GB data pack for Rs 49 is in addition to another one that shows in the app, that offers the same data quota, but is priced at Rs 51. However, the fine print of the data pack is that the Rs 49 data pack is available in select circles. Airtel prepaid users in metros including New Delhi can now avail the offer.
Airtel has two other data plans with the same 1GB limit, one which is priced at Rs 146 with a validity of seven days, while the other is priced at Rs 98 with a validity of 28 days. Alternatively, there is also a 2GB 3G/4G data pack for Rs 99, with a validity of five days. Airtel is also offering a data boost pack of Rs 29 where users get 150MB 2G/3G/4G data for 28 days. At Rs 48, Airtel prepaid subscribers get 400MB 2G/3G/4G data.
In comparison to Airtel’s offering, Reliance Jio offers 1.05GB of data in the Rs 52 plan, albeit with free voice calls, free messages, and a validity of 7 days.
The price war has been raging in the Indian telecom scene ever since Jio launched its services last year. Airtel recently updated its Rs 349 plan with 2GB data per day and its Rs 549 plan with 3GB data per day. The new Rs 49 Airtel pack can be expected to push the data tariff war further and we can expect Vodafone, Idea, and Aircel to come with similar one-day data pack.
