The Indian telecom industry, today, is one of the most competitive ones. Till a year ago, the tariff plans across networks seemed expensive, and right after Reliance Jio’s entry, network providers have constantly been competing with each other (mostly Jio) to offer plans lower than the other. In a similar effort, Airtel has launched a new plan for its postpaid users.
With the Rs 999 plan, users get 50GB of data and unlimited calls. This falls under Airtel’s myPlan Infinity postpaid plan. Aimed at consumers with high data consumption, the Airtel plan also offers free calls on roaming. The plan is available for both new and existing users, and comes with the company’s data rollover promise under which it will carry forward unused data to the next billing cycle. Apart from this, the company will be providing its Airtel Secure service for free for a period of six months. So, if your phone has liquid or accidental damage, you can get it repaired from an authorized service centre for free. Back in September, Airtel launched a similar Rs 999 pack for its prepaid customers, under which it offered 112GB of data, which was capped at 4GB per day, and ‘unlimited’ calls. Quite visibly, the difference in data offered in the prepaid and the postpaid plan is substantial, but the benefit postpaid users would have in the Rs 999 plan, is the absence of any daily FUP. For postpaid users, they will have 50GB data at hand every month, and if the exhaust the limit, they will be charged at 50 paise per MB, till the cycle renews next month. The Airtel Rs 999 plan competes with Jio’s Rs 999 postpaid plan, in which the customers get 90GB of data without any limits on daily data consumption. The validity of this plan is 2 months, and it comes with free unlimited SMS, roaming, Jio apps subscription and unlimited calls across the country.
