Airtel recently stated that it would be revamping its prepaid data plans to being truly unlimited by offering a speed of 128 kbps, post completion of the FUP limit. By doing this, the company plans on taking on both Reliance Jio and BSNL, who also offer this service.
Airtel offers prepaid plans that came with a daily data cap. For instance, the Rs 199 prepaid plan, carries a data cap of 1.4GB for a day. Upon exceeding the daily limit, users either had the option to recharge the plan or wait until 12:00 AM midnight to get the next day’s 1.4GB data. Now though, Airtel will be offering a minimum speed of 128kbps, upon completion of the daily limit. It isn’t a lot, but it does allow you to send and receive WhatsApp messages.
The feature was long requested by Airtel users. Until now, Jio and BSNL were the only service providers, who were offering the truly unlimited internet experience. BSNL offers 128 kbps speeds, while Jio has reduced the speed to 64 kbps. Judging by the trend though, other telecom company’s like Vodafone and Idea are also said to join the bandwagon soon.
