Amazon Launchpad is collaborating with HAX, the world’s biggest hardware accelerator and crowd funding site Kickstarter to announce a multi-level challenge for Indian startups called Startup C-Cube. The Startup C-Cube was flagged at an event in Bengaluru yesterday to mark the first anniversary of Amazon LaunchPad in India.
The startup winning Startup C-Cube challenge will be supported by the trio from “concept-to-customer” phase and will also get resources to launching its product in India, Europe/US depending on its scalability. Amazon says this global first partnership between hardware accelerator HAX, funder Kickstarter and Amazon India will fuel innovative entrepreneurship in India. The trio are coming together in order to build a product startup ecosystem in the country and is inline with Government’s ‘Startup India’ initiative.
“In the past one year, we have been overwhelmed by the response that Amazon Launchpad has received from the start-up ecosystem in India. We have been excited to witness not only the launch of several new and innovative products on Amazon Launchpad but also the growing customer demand for these products from across the country. Business growth of some of the start-ups on Amazon Launchpad has elicited interest in these start-ups from VCs as well as other funding agencies in the last one year,” Manish Tiwary, VP Category Management, Amazon India said in a statement.
He added, “We are very happy to bring Kickstarter and HAX to India to give Indian start-ups an opportunity to get their ideas noticed at the global stage and arm them with resources to convert these into real business opportunities.”
Amazon Launchpad debuted in India last year to facilitate the launch for Indian start-ups and distribute their products directly to millions of customers already using Amazon customers in India and around the world. Amazon says its Launchpad has over 17,000 innovative products across various categories and wireless, electronic, grocery and beauty were the top categories in the past year.
In India, Amazon Launchpad has helped startups like Zizira from Shillong, Vita cups from Indore, HySav from Pune, Techtex Online from Surat and Aarshaveda Wellness Pvt. Ltd from Aluva. Startups can join Amazon Launchpad from any part of the country and their products will be accessible from dedicated microsite.
