In terms of pricing, the Amazon Echo Dot is available at Rs 4,499, the Amazon Echo costs Rs 9,999 while the Amazon Echo Plus is priced at Rs 14,999. It is to be noted that when these were launched, these were available at a discount along with bundled Amazon Prime membership. However, with the wider availability, these freebies and discounts appear discontinued. For those buying the Amazon Echo Plus online and at select retail outlets, Amazon is offering a Philips Hue bulb free.
In addition to the larger availability, Amazon also announced new features for its smart devices. Amazon Echo now allows you to use the Alexa-to-Alexa calling and messaging feature to connect with friends or family who have Echo compatible devices and apps.
To enhance the experience, Amazon has added a new multi-room music feature that allows you to play and control music across multiple Echo devices simultaneously. Using the voice-controlled Alexa, you can also set up routines to perform a series of actions from a single voice command, shop on Amazon using voice, and choose from over 12,000 skills for the connected experience.
The company further said that Alexa developers are adding more skills to the voice assistant to help you order food, book a cab, and more.
Jayshree Gururaj, Director, Amazon Devices, said,”We are excited to make Alexa and our Echo devices available for all customers, and we can’t wait to hear about their experiences. Since Alexa runs in the cloud, she is always getting smarter – the Alexa experience in India continues to evolve with new features, even better speech recognition, new localized skills, expanded music selection, and more.”
In a bid to localize its smart device ecosystem, Amazon has improved its Alexa assistant by making it more aware of local topics. Alexa is now capable of answering more questions about Indian history, holidays, Bollywood movies, and cricket.
