OnePlus is all set to launch the OnePlus 2 in India today. The smartphone will be sold exclusively on Amazon India starting 4PM via the invite model. Users will begin to get their invites through email, after which they can head over to the e-commerce site and purchase the smartphone. Currently, the company is only selling 64GB variant priced at Rs 24,999.
The company claims that India is the first market to receive the OnePlus 2. “Starting at 4:00 PM (IST) today, the OnePlus 2 will go on sale on Amazon India, and fans with invites will be able to order by claiming their invite in their OnePlus account. The first batch of invites start rolling out today!” OnePlus announced on its blog post.
Once you receive an invite in your inbox or have a physical invite card ready, navigate to oneplus.net/in or click on the link given in the invite email and login to your OnePlus account. If you don’t have a OnePlus account, make one. Once logged in, click on ‘My OnePlus Account’, navigate to ‘My Invites’ on the left side and click on ‘Claim New Invite’. Enter your invite code and click ‘Claim’.
If you want a physical hands-on with the OnePlus 2 before you make the purchase, Ola cabs is offering an exclusive opportunity to just play around with the new smartphone via its app. In Bangalore and Chennai, this initiative will be available on August 17 and 18, in Hyderabad and Mumbai on August 21 and 22, and in Kolkata and Delhi on August 25 and 26. OnePlus also conducted free meetups in few cities ahead of the launch, for fans to be able to experience the OnePlus 2 before buying it today.
As for specifications, it features a 5.5-inch 1080p display and is powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor. While the 64GB version comes with 4GB of RAM, the 16GB variant will include a 3GB RAM.

It also features a 13-megapixel main camera along with laser auto-focus and OIS to take blur-free photos and videos, a 5-megapixel front facing camera for selfies, and a 3,300mAh battery. In terms of connectivity, the handset supports 4G LTE, dual-SIM slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Oxygen OS based on Android Lollipop. The company has already received 3 million registrations for the OnePlus 2 so far, hinting at the demand of the smartphone.
