Google I/O is still months away and the biggest revelation at the annual developer conference will be the unveiling of the next version of Android OS. The successor to Android 8.0 Oreo will be definitely Android 9.0 P. But what that ‘P’ will stand for is something the world is already guessing. Will it be finally Payasam? Or will Google choose to name it less-predictable, but more common, Praline?
As is the tradition, Android versions are named after sweet treats. From the early Android versions of Cupcake, Donut, Gingerbread, and KitKat, our sweet cravings have reached to Nougat and the current Oreo version. For one more time, Android fans in India will place their bets on an Indian sweet, especially since India-born Sundar Pichai is heading the division. While he did not name the last version after anything Indian in origin, there’s no harm in keeping the fingers crossed for an Android Petha.
The next version of Android, in all likelihood, will be seamless, allowing you to leverage the modern all-screen displays, and definitely satiate your camera needs, all while ensuring your phone runs through the day without draining out. We have zeroed in on ten sweet treats (including Indian sweets, because of our obvious bias), one of which could possibly be the next Android version. Take this poll below to tell us what would you like Google to call its upcoming Android 9.0 P version.
