Today started off with a major update to the Apple’ Clips app, into an announcement that the iPhone 7 is the best shipped smartphone of the third quarter of the year. We also learned about Reliance Jio add 4 million news subscribers in the month of August. Moreover, the day also witnessed the official launch of Flipkart Billion Capture+ smartphone, and an official word on the launch on Infinix Zero 5 on November 14. Apple Clips app update
Today Apple has updated its social video app, Clips, with a redesigned interface, Augmented Reality (AR) selfie backgrounds, artistic and Star Wars effects. The update also adds a bunch of new stickers that use machine learning (ML) and style transfer technology. While the update is available for iPhones and iPads, the AR features are exclusive to the iPhone X.
Reliance Jio adds 4 million subscribers
Also revealed today, was Reliance Jio juggernaut acquiring 4.09 million new users in the month of August. As per the latest Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) report, this has helped take Jio’s market share in the country to 11 percent.
Apple iPhone 7 world’s best shipped smartphone
A Canalys report came in today, which revealed that Apple’s last year’s iPhone 7 has become the best shipped smartphone in the third quarter of 2017, with a shipment of 13 million units. To put this in perspective, Apple shipped a total 46.7 million smartphones in this quarter. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus together accounted for 11.8 million shipment, which falls well short of iPhone 7’s.
Flipkart Billion Capture+ launched
After teasing its own brand of smartphone yesterday, Flipkart today officially launched the Billion Capture+ smartphone. As revealed, the smartphone will be priced at Rs 10,999, and will be equipped with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There will also be a Rs 12,999 variant, which will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. It will sport a combination of two 13-megapixel cameras on the rear. It will be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. The smartphone comes with a 3,500mAh battery.
Infinix Zero 5
Finally, Infinix today sent out media invites for a launch event in Dubai on November 14 where it will be launching a new smartphone, called Zero 5. The company has kept details under wraps, however, according to a teaser video put up on Twitter, the smartphone will be exclusive to Flipkart in India.
