It has taken accessory makers just a day to come up with an elegant solution to a not-so-elegant issue with the Apple HomePod. If you are worried about Apple’s smart speaker destroying your wooden furniture, you should check out these simple accessories by Pad and Quill.

What the accessory maker has done is launch “state-of-the-art surface protection” (read: coasters) that you can keep the HomePod on. A quick look at the accessory maker’s website shows that these coasters are made using ‘American full-grain leather’, and feature ‘Marine grade stitching’. These leather coasters cost $19.95 (approximately Rs 1,270), and can be ordered in Whiskey and Chesnut colors.

These coasters aren’t the only accessories either, and the folks at Engadget have collated quite the list. If you are looking for more robust and all-round protection, there’s an ‘Aluminum Mount Holder Stand Desktop Bracket’ from Meres. This is a bit premium with a price tag of $39.90 (approximately Rs 2,540). If you still don’t want to risk your wooden furniture, there’s an accessory that lets you wall mount the HomePod. Meres’ ‘Aluminum Wall Mount Holder Stand Bracket’ is also available on Amazon.com with a price tag of $42.90 (approximately Rs 2,740).

With the HomePods reaching a few people, an issue cropped up that no one would have quite imagined. According to multiple reports, the HomePods tend to leave behind a white ring stain on wooden surfaces. Apple responded to this by saying that these rings are a result of the oils diffused between the speaker’s vibration-dampening silicone base and the wood.

But instead of acknowledging it as a design defect, Apple advices users to place the HomePod on different sort of surfaces. Thankfully, these accessories come to the rescue of people who have no choice but to keep the HomePods on wooden surfaces.
