Apple HomePod smart speaker is one product we all have been waiting for. Now, Apple has officially announced it will launch the HomePod on February 9, with preorders kicking off from January 26. The smart speaker will initially go on sale in the US, UK, and Australia. It’ll then arrive in France and Germany sometime this spring. In terms of pricing, the Apple HomePod will go on sale at $349 (Rs 22,200 approximately). Apple HomePod comes in two color choices of white and space gray.
We can expect Apple to launch the HomePod in a limited quantity. Analysts in the past have predicted that there would be only 500,000 units of the HomePod at the time of launch. However, According to a Bloomberg report, Apple anticipates shipping of 4 million HomePods in 2018.
Apple HomePod has a cylindrical design wrapped with 3D mesh fabric. Under its hood is an A8 chip, and it features what Apple calls ‘spatial awareness’. HomePod features a large woofer that provides pure high-frequency acoustics with directional control. With an array of six microphones, Apple claims that the HomePod can hear “Hey Siri” from across the room, even when loud music is playing. HomePod is obviously compatible with Apple Music, and can wirelessly access the full library of songs from Apple Music.
Along with music support, HomePod is designed to work as a home assistant, so you can use Siri for things like unit conversion, news, weather, traffic, sports, reminders, timers, and more. HomePod will also serve as a HomeKit hub to allow you to control smart home products too.
