Soon after the launch of the iPhone X and iPhone 8 lineup, Apple marginally slashed prices of its older iPhones. However, at the same time, the company has quietly hiked price of its iPad Pro models, including the newest in the series, in select countries including India.

Price of the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro Wi-Fi only model with 256GB storage is now Rs 76,200 – up from Rs 70,900. The 512GB model, on the other hand, now costs Rs 93,200 – up from Rs 86,400. The 64GB storage model costs the same at Rs 63,500. The models with Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity are now priced at Rs 86,800 (256GB), up from Rs 81,400. The 512GB variant is now priced at Rs 103,800 – up from Rs 97,000. The price of the base model with 64GB storage remains the same at Rs 74,100.

Similar price changes are seen for the 10.5-inch iPad Pro where the Wi-Fi only model with 256GB storage is priced at Rs 63,500 – up from Rs 58,300. The 512GB model is now priced at Rs 80,500 – up from Rs 73,900. The Wi-Fi + Cellular model is now priced at Rs 74,100 and Rs 91,100 for the 256GB and 512GB model, up from 68,900 and Rs 84,500 respectively. The base model price remains the same at Rs 50,800 (Wi-Fi) and Rs 61,400 (Wi-Fi + Cellular). ALSO READ: How iPhone 8, iPhone X will impact the premium end of India’s smartphone market

According to Macrumors, the reason for such a change in prices could be due to the increased cost of flash storage (NAND). The price rise follows the launch of the 10th anniversary iPhone X. ALSO READ: Apple iPad Pro 2 review: It’s what you make of it

To recall, the new Apple iPad Pro with 12.9-inch Retina display is powered by A10X chip – the same chip now also powers the new Apple TV 4K. The tablet is also compatible with Apple Pencil and the Smart Keyboard.

It is ironic to see Apple increase the prices of its tablets, in the same week of announcing the $900 iPhone X (Rs 89,000 for the base model in India). This was preceded with an interview where CEO Tim Cook called company’s reputation of building ‘expensive’ products as ‘over-emphasized’. As for the new iPhones, there are multiple resellers in India who will start accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 8 and iPhoen 8 Plus starting September 22.  DON’T MISS: Apple iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus to be exclusively available via Flipkart
