In what could be seen as an indication to the preparation for the launch of the iPhone 6, Flipkart has slashed the prices of the iPhone 5S. The 16GB version of the flagship iPhone is now available on the e-commerce site for Rs 44,390.
The iPhone 5S had debuted on Flipkart last year at Rs 53,500. The 32GB and 64GB variants of the iPhone 5S too have seen a drop in price — the former sees a drop from Rs 62,500 to Rs 60,980, while the latter sees a drop from Rs 71,500 to Rs 68,900.
Flipkart isn’t the only one slashing prices of the iPhone either. US retail giant Walmart too has slashed prices of the iPhones, with the iPhone 5C 16GB now available at $29 (down from $49), and the iPhone 5S 16GB will cost $99 (down from $149) with a two-year contract, CNET reports.
This kind of a price slash is typically seen in the weeks leading up to the launch of a new iPhone. Apple is widely believed to be launching two variants of the iPhone 6 — 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. The former is expected to launch sometime soon, while the larger variant will be launched towards the end of this year.
From what we know so far, the forthcoming iPhone 6 will boast a new design language, slimmer form factor with curved edges, and relocated power button among other new features.
