Apple unveiled the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus on September 7 and the pre-orders have already kicked off on several countries from September 9. Now, while the new smartphones are set to go on sale starting September 16, the iPhone 7 has been put through its paces on AnTuTu benchmark with an impressive score of 178,397. The score logged by the iPhone 7 is also far better than competing Android smartphones that run on the latest Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor.

Both the Apple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are powered by Apple’s 64-bit A10 Fusion quad-core chipset with M10 Motion co-processor. Apple claims that the new chipset is two times faster than the A8 chipset on the iPhone 6. The new chipset also comes with a hexa-core GPU, which according to Apple boosts graphics performance by up to three times compared to the iPhone 6.

While Apple doesn’t generally reveal the battery capacity of its iPhones or iPads, Chinese regulator’s TENAA listing has revealed that the iPhone 7 is armed with a 1,960mAh battery, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus is equipped with a 2,900mAh battery. The benchmark results have also revealed that the iPhone 7 carries 2GB of RAM, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus is equipped with slightly larger 3GB of RAM to carry out that extra processing of the dual camera setup.  ALSO READ:  Should you buy the Apple iPhone 7?

The score of 178,397 is almost a third more compared to the score of 133,781 logged by iPhone 6s running on Apple’s A9 chipset. Now, if we look at the AnTuTu score sheet of August 2016, OnePlus 3 holds the top spot with a core of 140,288, which is shy of 38,109 points compared to the iPhone 7.
