After announcing the Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus in red color, also called as the (PRODUCT) RED edition, the smartphones are now available to purchase in India. Similar to the iPhone 7 models announced last year, the new color variant of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are just a paint job, but one that fights for a better cause. With the (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 smartphones, an unspecified portion of the proceeds from sales will go directly to the charity.
Now, the classy thing about the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus color variants is that Apple made the front black, unlike the white front panel seen on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The color scheme goes well with the red aesthetics of the new iPhone 8. The new red color iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus join the already existing color choice of space grey, silver and gold color options. And the name implies, these (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available only in limited quantities.
The iPhone 8 (PRODUCT) RED Special Edition will be offered in 64GB variant priced at Rs 67,940, and 256GB variant, priced at Rs 81,500. The iPhone 8 Plus (PRODUCT) RED, on the other hand will cost Rs 77,560 for the 64GB storage variant, whereas the 256GB variant will set you back by Rs 91,110.
In a released statement, Apple says it has donated more than $160 million to the Global Fund, which supports with grants for testing counseling, treatment and prevention programs that focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies. In addition to (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 models, Apple is also announcing a new (PRODUCT) RED iPhone X Leather Folio case that will be available starting tomorrow.
Apple is also selling the Folio case for iPhone X priced at Rs 7,900 in India and will be available through Apple Authorised Resellers. “This special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone features a stunning red and black color combination and also offers customers the opportunity to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Product Marketing.
