Just a day after Apple’s reported plans for the next iPhones became hot news, a leak has come forth in that reaffirms a part of that report.

“The company tried to develop gold for the current X handset, but abandoned it because of production problems,” read the report. “All new iPhones since the 5s came in gold, including the iPhone 8. The gold option is especially appealing to consumers in Asia, and may help boost sales in the region. Still, Apple may ultimately decide not to proceed with the color.”
The report does sound very valid, considering the iPhone X is one of the first smartphones from Apple in years, which did not come in the gold color options. Apple phones after iPhone 5s, have come in a gold color, along with space grey, silver, and rose gold for some models.
Now, it is too soon to say for sure that a gold iPhone X is coming. But it does seem like a possibility.
The Bloomberg report also talked about Apple wanting to appeal to the growing number of consumers who crave the multitasking attributes of so-called phablets while also catering to those looking for a more affordable version of the iPhone X. Hence, Apple is planning to launch a phablet variant of the iPhone X, as well as a relatively cheaper iPhone with LCD display.
