According to a recent report published by AnandTech, Apple is working on a physical gaming controller for iOS devices as touchscreen displays and accelerometers which have so far managed to tackle casual gaming, cannot be used for serious hardcore gaming as the use of touch controls can be very frustrating.
“I know of an internal Apple project to bring a physical controller to market, but whether or not it will ever see the light of day remains to be seen,” mentioned the blog post. “As smartphones and tablets come close to equalling the performance of current game consoles, I feel like the controller problem must be addressed.”
This is not the first report that has suggested that Apple is working on a physical gaming controller. An article by PatentlyApple, published day before yesterday, has shown the first view of Apple’s new gaming accessories that are rumoured to be in the works. While some units will possibly have a Wii like motion sensing capability, others will wirelessly connect to your home theater or HDTV and will also sport a dual display configuration.
