After the MacBook Air got a price cut earlier this year, it is now time for the iMac. Apple has today launched a new stripped down iMac priced at Rs 79,900, which is Rs 13,000 less than the previous iMac base model.

To price it aggressively, Apple has toned down the performance on the base model by offering a 1.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor. The previous base model featured a 2.7GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, which is still available and is now a mid-range model instead. The processor still does include Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz. Apple has also reduced the onboard storage to 500GB and opted for a an Intel HD 5000 GPU in place of Intel Iris Pro GPU.

Other than these changes, Apple has kept the rest of the things same, so you still get a 21.5-inch display, Intel HD 5000 graphics, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, two Thunderbolt ports and four USB 3.0 ports.
