Last week, Apple was prompted to take down the beta version of its watchOS 5, after some users complained about issues with the installation process. Now after making all the necessary fixes, Apple today launched an updated version of the watchOS 5 beta, which is currently available for download on its website.
For the watchOS 5 beta to install properly, you’ll first need to meet the proper configuration profile, details of which are available on Apple Developer Centre. After doing that, you can install the beta OS through the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Other things also need to be considered: the Apple Watch must carry at least 50 percent charge, or must be placed on the charger while installing the update. It’s also important for you to keep the Apple watch in close range with the iPhone. It should be noted that this is just the developer version of the watchOS 5, which means there could still be plenty of bugs to deal with.
On the flipside, the watchOS 5 comes with lot of new features, including fitness tracking for yoga and hiking now. It also makes the Apple Watch smart enough to start and end a workout automatically, if you have forgot to do so. New tracking features for running have also been introduced.
Other features include Walkie-Talkie communication, which allows you to quickly get in touch with your friends or family members, who also own an Apple Watch. There is also support for new third-party apps and a new dedicated Podcasts app has also been added to the list. With the new WebKit format, watching video content on the Apple Watch will also be possible. Finally, notifications and other interactions have also been improved.
Watch: Apple iOS 12 features
The final version of the watchOS 5 is expected to launch by September. Plenty of new features might also be added till then. The new OS update will be supported on Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 Apple Watches.
