October 10 came and went without any invite from Apple for the launch of the iPad mini as it was rumored earlier. This led many to doubt whether the iPad mini even exists or is it just Apple playing mind games to scare its competitors. AllThingsD now reports that the launch event won’t be held on October 17 but on October 23 and the iPad mini definitely exists and is not a figment of someone’s imagination.
Apple is unlikely to have a massive event as it just did one for the iPhone 5 and new iPods and it would be too soon to do another big launch. In all probability, it would be staged at Apple’s own HQ. The iPad mini is rumored to be thinner and have a 7.85-inch display. It would essentially target the $300-$400 segment and take on the Nexus 7 and other 7-inch tablets from Samsung and others.
