Apple’s AirPods may not be the best audio products available, but there’s no denying their popularity. Now it seems like Apple is planning on expanding its audio portfolio by launching a pair of high-end over-the-ear headphones.
KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that these high-end headphones will have the Apple branding, and not Beats, AppleInsider reports. Kuo’s note reads, “Apple to have own-brand, high-end over-ear headphones with all-new design; to be as convenient as AirPods with better sound quality; shipments to begin 4Q18F at earliest; Primax & SZS will be the key suppliers and will benefit from high ASPs.”
While details are scarce, the Cupertino giant is said to be more focused on higher-end audio. If we were to hazard a guess, these headphones could feature Apple’s new wireless chip that is set to be introduced with the next-generation AirPods. Also expect deep Siri integration with these headphones.
Kuo further claims that Apple will launch these headphones sometime towards the end of this year. They will also be priced ‘higher’ than the AirPods, which are currently available online in India for around Rs 11,999.
These rumors come days after a report about the next-generation AirPods surfaced online. These in-ear headphones, internally called ‘B288’, will feature Apple’s new wireless chipset, and also get hands-free ‘Hey Siri’ feature. Further, these upcoming AirPods will be water resistant, allowing you to take a walk in the rain with music still playing in your ears.
