The Apple Watch Series 3 with LTE support finally goes on sale via Indian telecom operators – Reliance Jio and Airtel. There are two variants of the Apple Watch Series 3 LTE. The smaller 38mm variant is priced at Rs 39,080, whereas the slightly larger 42mm variant will set you back by Rs 41,120.
Thanks to built-in LTE support, the smartwatch can operate as a standalone device, and you don’t need to carry your smartphone along with you all the time. However, it does need an e-SIM, which is currently only offered by Airtel and Reliance Jio.
Essentially, e-SIM allows you to use your same mobile number on both devices – your iPhone and Apple Watch. Until now, your iPhone would push notifications on your Apple Watch via Bluetooth. With LTE connectivity, you can now leave your smartphone at home and go on a walk, while still being able to make and receive calls, and use apps.

Reliance Jio has launched a new service called JioEverywhereConnect for Apple Watch Series 3 LTE, and it will be available to iPhone users at no extra cost. If you have any other operator, such as Vodafone or Idea Cellular, you can opt for Mobile Number Portability (MNP) for e-SIM connectivity. Airtel, on the other hand, is offering flat Rs 5,000 off to customers buying the smartwatch using ICICI bank credit card. The offer only available on online purchase made from airtel.in/onlinestore, and EMI transactions are not eligible for the offer. With the discount, the Apple Watch Series 3 LTE can be purchased for as low as Rs 34,090.
To activate e-SIM service on your Apple Watch Series 3 LTE model, you will first need to update it to watchOS 4.3, and your iPhone to iOS 11.3. Next, tap on Settings on iPhone -> General -> About, and follow the prompt to update to the latest carrier settings. e-SIM is compatible with Apple iPhone 6s and above.
Talking about features, the Apple Watch Series 3 LTE comes with 50-meter water resistance, and a barometric altimeter to measure relative elevation. Powered by a new dual-core processor and wireless chip, the smartwatch also lets you stream music without needing to connect to your smartphone. Apple claims that the Watch 3 LTE can offer up to 18-hour battery life.
