Asus Fonepad 7 (FE170CG) dual-SIM voice calling tablet launched in India, priced at Rs 8,999

Asus has launched its latest Fonepad 7 tablet in India. The voice calling tablet which was unveiled in international markets in April has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs 8,999.

As far as specifications are concerned, the Asus Fonepad 7 flaunts a 7-inch WSVGA (1024×600 pixels) display with a pixel density of 169ppi and is powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2520 ‘Clover Trail+’ dual-core processor with Hyper-Threading technology.

The tablet also features 1GB of RAM, 4GB and 8GB storage variants, microSD card slot to expand memory up to 64GB, 2-megapixel rear camera, VGA front-facing camera and up to 10 hours of battery life. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 3G support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and on the software front it runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean wrapped under Asus’ ZenUI. The company has also promised that the OS is upgradable to Android 4.4 KitKat.

At this price point, the Fonepad 7 will be up against the recently launched Flipkart Digiflip Pro XT712, which too is a voice calling tablet priced in the sub-Rs 10,000 segment. Flipkart’s tablet features a 7-inch 1280×800 pixels IPS display, 1.3GHz MediaTek MTK8382 quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB, 5-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery. On the software front, it runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
