Asus FonePad coming with Intel Lexington chip: Report

We have heard a number of rumours about a purported Asus tablet that will be named the FonePad. Of course this sounds very similar to the PadFone, but the FonePad could be a smaller 7-inch tablet that would have embedded calling capabilities. The folks at The Unwired View are reporting that this tablet will be powered by Intel’s new Lexington Z2420 Atom chip which has a clock speed of 1.2GHz and hyper threading technology. This news comes as an image of the back plate of the device surfaced that brandished the iconic ‘Intel Inside’ logo.

As far as the specs of the product are concerned then it will reportedly have a 7-inch 1280×800 resolution panel, the Intel Lexington Chip, PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1GB of RAM, a 3-MP rear camera, a 1.2-MP front-facing camera, a micro-SD card slot, a 4,270 mAh battery and will be offered in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB avatars. Its dimensions will be 196.6×120.1×10.4 mm, and it will weigh 340 grams. It will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Lastly, it will have an aluminium back.

It will reportedly go on sale between April and June.
