Asus today marked its entry into the Indian smartphone market with a trio of Zenfone smartphones. Along with the Zenfone 4, Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6, Asus also announced its latest edition of Fonepad 7 phablet. The Zenfone 4 is priced at Rs 5,999, the Zenfone 5 8GB at Rs 9,999 and the Zenfone 6 at Rs 16,999. The pricing for Fonepad 7 hasn’t been announced.
The Zenfone 4 features a 4-inch WVGA TFT display. It runs on Intel’s Atom Z2520 processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage that can be extended with a microSD card slot. It also features a 5-megapixel camera and a 1,170mAh battery. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct and Bluetooth 4.0. It comes with dual micro-SIM card slots.
The Indian version of Zenfone 5 features Intel’s Atom Z2560 processor clocked at 1.6GHz with 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory. Like the name suggests, it has a 5-inch display with 720p resolution. With this phone, Asus is introducing what it calls a PixelMaster camera, which registers up to 400 percent brighter photos and videos in low-light conditions by reducing the resolution. The Zenfone 5 has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front facing camera for selfies. It has a 2,050mAh battery. You can check out our first impressions of the Zenfone 5 here.
The Zenfone 6 sports a 6-inch 720p display and runs on the Intel Atom Z2580 processor clocked at 2GHz. It will come in 8GB and 16GB variants with 1GB or 2GB of RAM. The Zenfone has a 13-megapixel f/2.0 PixelMaster rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. It comes with a 3,230mAh battery.
The FonePad 7 features a similar 7-inch 1280×800 pixel display. It is powered by a 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 processor, and supports 3G network and dual-SIM slots. It also has a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing cameras, and features ASUS SonicMaster audio with dual front speakers. Also, both the devices offer Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.
