Asus Memo Pad Smart launched with 10.1-inch screen and 1.2GHz quad-core processor

Catching the press around the world off-guard, Asus has announced its 10-inch tablet dubbed Memo Pad Smart at a Mobile Expo in Thailand, reports Droid Sans. The launch comes as a major surprise, as everyone including us had anticipated that Asus would launch its 10-inch Memo Pad at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC).

The Memo Pad Smart runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and has a 10.1-inch WXGA IPS display. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor and 1GB RAM and features a 16GB internal storage, 5-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel front camera, microSD card reader and USB and micro-HDMI port. The tablet is priced at 10,900 baht (Rs 19,800 approximately) in Thailand and is available in pink, gray, blue and white variants.

There is currently no official word from the company as to when the tablet will be launched in other countries. Below is a video of the tablet in use at the Expo.
