Ahead of the Computex 2018, Asus has announced the gaming-centric ROG Phone, along with a new lineup of gaming laptops and accessories. The Asus ROG Phone is the first smartphone to feature a 3D vapor-chamber cooling system. It also boasts a custom Snapdragon 845 SoC and a 6-inch AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rate.
Besides revealing the smartphone features and specifications, the company didn’t unveil a lot of details on the phone’s pricing or availability. However, during an interaction with BGR India, Dinesh Sharma, Director Mobile Product Centre for ASUS India did mention that the smartphone will be coming to India soon, and it will be competitively priced. Asus ROG Phone will be one of the first gaming smartphones to officially launch in India. However, a specific date or pricing was not disclosed to us. We will update the space, the moment we have more information on it.
Asus ROG Phone specifications and features
The Asus Phone features a 6-inch full HD+ AMOLED display, which comes thin bezels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. It boasts 90Hz refresh rate which should help deliver a smooth gaming experience. It also supports HDR and features an impressive response time of 1ms.
Underneath the sleek design, the ROG phone comes with a Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor coupled along with the Adreno 630 GPU. It also packs in 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The phone is armed with a massive 4,000mAh battery, which comes with Asus HyperCharge technology that can charge the phone up to 60 percent in 33 minutes. On full charge, Asus claims the phone to support 7 hours of Wi-Fi gaming. The Asus ROG phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Asus ZEN UI on top.
For photography, the phone features a dual-rear camera setup at the back which consists of 12-megapixel sensor, paired alongside an 8-megapixel sensor. For selfies the phone comes with an 8-megapixel camera up front. Connectivity options include a Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone also comes with stereo front firing speakers, placed above and below the display.

Alongside the phone, Asus also launched four accessories for it. This includes an AeroActive Cooler, which helps keep the smartphone cool during intensive gaming. There is also a TwinView Dock, which brings dual screen in the handheld mode. It allows you to play games while using other smartphone functions on the side. There is also Mobile Desktop Dock and an Asus WiGig Dock. The former lets you connect the smartphone to a TV and mirror games, while the latter comes with a receiver that lets you stream games wirelessly, while also playing them with the help of a joystick. Along with the phone, there is a good chance that the accessories will also come to India soon.
