Asus has finally launched its flagship smartphone, the Zenfone 5Z in India, and it offers top-notch hardware, a front and back glass design, AI cameras and more. It will take on the likes of OnePlus 6 which is a highly popular smartphone in that price range, and also on the Honor 10 which comes with a beautiful design and AI dual cameras. We compared all three smartphones, and here’s how they fare based on their price in India, specifications and features.
Pricing and availability
Asus is selling the Zenfone 5Z exclusively on Flipkart, thanks to the strategic partnership that was announced earlier this year. The Asus Zenfone 5Z is offered in three storage variants –64GB storage one priced at Rs 29,999, 128GB variant priced at Rs 32,999 and 256GB variant priced at Rs 36,999. ICICI Bank credit and debit card users will get Rs 3,000 instant off, which will further bring down the price to Rs 26,999 for the base variant, Rs 29,999 for mid variant, and Rs 33,999 for the top end variant. Reliance Jio users also get a total of 100GB data on 10 recharges (10GB each month).
The is priced at Rs 32,999 and is available exclusively via Flipkart. The OnePlus 6, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 34,999 for 64GB variant, Rs 39,999 for 128GB variant and Rs 44,999 for the Marvel Avengers special edition with 256GB storage. You can buy the OnePlus 6 from Amazon India.

Design and display
All three smartphones come with a metal frame sandwiched between front and back glass. It does offer a premium look and feel, but if you are expecting wireless charging support, you’re going to be disappointed.
Coming to the display, all three smartphones feature full-screen displays with 19:9 aspect ratio and a “notch” on top. The Zenfone 5Z comes with a 6.2-inch full HD+ panel, the OnePlus 6 comes with a slightly larger 6.28-inch full HD+ display, whereas the Honor 10 features a compact 5.84-inch full HD+ panel. The screens run at a resolution of 2246×1080 pixels.
Chipset, RAM and storage
At the heart of the Zenfone 5Z and the OnePlus 6 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. The Zenfone 5Z comes in two other variants – 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. The OnePlus 6 also comes with 8GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage variants.
The Honor 10, on the other hand, comes with Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 970 octa-core SoC along with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU). It is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. While the Zenfone 5 Z comes with a hybrid microSD card slot, the OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 do not feature expandable storage option.
All three smartphone manufacturers have been highlighting the camera capabilities of their smartphones, with the Honor 10 and Zenfone 5Z also featuring AI scene detection. You get dual-rear cameras on the Asus smartphone – with a 12-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture lens), and an 8-megapixel secondary sensor (f/2.2 aperture wide-angle lens) with field of view of 120 degrees. Up front, you have an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling.
The OnePlus 6 features a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 20-megapixel secondary sensor. The second is a depth sensor that adds DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos, and also achieves 2X lossless optical zoom functionality. Up front is a 16-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling. The camera also supports portrait mode without needing the dual cameras.
Coming to Honor 10, the dual-rear camera setup includes a primary 16-megapixel color sensor of f/1.8 aperture, and a 24-megapixel secondary monochrome sensor that aids in low-light scenario. You also get AI features such as beauty mode, object and scene recognition to improve the photo quality. Up front is a 24-megapixel camera for selfies and video calling, and it also comes with AI portrait mode.
Battery and OS
To keep things ticking, both the OnePlus 6 and Zenfone 5Z are armed with a 3,300mAh battery with support for fast charging, whereas the Honor 10 comes with a slightly larger 3,400mAh battery with fast charging support. And while OnePlus and Honor smartphones run on Android 8.1 Oreo, the Asus smartphone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Connectivity and security
All three smartphones feature dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11ac. For security, you get a fingerprint sensor and face unlock feature on all three smartphones.
