Asus Zenfone 5Z launched in India
Asus India just launched its latest flagship, the Asus Zenfone 5Z in the market as a Flipkart-exclusive. The company has priced the base variant with 6GB RAM with 64GB storage at Rs 29,999 and the variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage for Rs 32,999. The top-end variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced Rs 36,999 and all these variants will go on sale starting July 9.
Zenfone 5z comes with a 6.2-inch full HD+ with 1080×2246 pixels resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio and an edge-to-edge screen with that infamous notch. The device runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC with an octa-core CPU along with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. Asus has also added a hybrid slot that lets users use the second SIM slot for a microSD card to expand storage capacity.
The device comes with a dual camera setup with 12-megapixel primary sensor and a wide-angle lens with 8-megapixel sensor along with an 8-megapixel sensor on the front for selfies. The device runs on a 3,300mAh battery with support for fast charging.
OxygenOS Open Beta brings Project Treble support to OnePlus 5 and 5T
OnePlus announced the launch of latest Open Beta versions for its OnePlus 5 and 5T devices. The new Open Beta 13 for OnePlus 5 and Open Beta 11 for OnePlus 5T bring support for Project Treble to the devices which is likely to be one of the most requested feature from the power users of both the devices. Project Treble support for both the devices is a huge deal because this makes it easier for manufacturers to roll out updates faster.
Other changes include an updated user interface, more accent color customization, improved search tags in the app drawer, a ‘new installs’ category in the app drawer, and more.
iOS 12 Developer beta 3 released
Apple has released iOS 12 developer beta 3 for all the iPhone and iPad users with supported devices. As previously reported, this new version brings a number of bug fixes and other software improvements bringing it closer to the gold master version, expected to be released alongside new iPhone models in September.
The update has added a springy animation to “Clear All Notifications” button while adding the ability to clear alters with one swipe. It also brings a redesigned voice memos app on iPad while fixing issues with CarPlay. Apple has also tweaked the effect picker for FaceTime and the Watch app now shows third-party apps that work with Siri watch face.
Government asks WhatsApp to curb false messages
The government has asked WhatsApp to take steps to curb the spread of misinformation and provocative messages on its platform. This comes right after a series of lynchings and mob beatings across the country that are said to have been triggered by messages circulating on WhatsApp.
The latest incident caused by false messages on WhatsApp included a recent communal lynching where five people were beaten to death by a mob on Sunday in Maharashtra on suspicion that they were child abductors.
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 renders leaked
Samsung is planning to launch its upcoming flagship, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in a launch event on August 9. As the launch date approaches, the number of leaks cropping on the internet have picked up the pace.
According to a recent report, renders of what is likely to be the Galaxy Note 9 have leaked on the internet. Analyzing the renders, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 looks very similar to its predecessor in terms of the design and the only change seems to be in the setup of the fingerprint and the cameras.
Alleged images of Motorola One leaked
Images of what appears to be the upcoming Motorola One have leaked out on the internet. Motorola is expected to launch the Motorola One and Motorola One Power smartphone at its upcoming launch event on August 2.
The leaked images only show the rear design of the Motorola One and the device does not seem to sport the Android One branding as indicated in previous reports.
