After announcing the strategic partnership with e-commerce giant Flipkart last week, Asus is all set to launch its first smartphone of 2018. No, Asus is not launching the Zenfone 5-series smartphones that it announced at MWC 2018. Instead, it is launching a battery centric device in the Zenfone Max-series. Called Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core SoC.
The global launch event is taking place in Delhi, and Asus will also be live streaming the same. You can watch the live stream at 12:30PM on the company’s YouTube Channel here, or on the company’s Facebook page here. Based on what we know so far, the smartphone will come with a massive 5,000mAh battery with reverse charging feature, and run on stock Android OS.
Just yesterday, press render of the smartphone had leaked showing off the 6-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, dual cameras at the back and circular fingerprint sensor.

Leak also hinted that the smartphone will be paired with 4GB of RAM, dual SIM card slots and a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion. A version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage is also expected. In the camera department, dual rear cameras up to 16-megapixel resolution with support for portrait mode, and a 16-megapixel front camera with LED flash, face unlock feature is expected.
