Bharti Airtel has announced another new data plan that takes aim at Reliance Jio‘s data offering. The largest telecom operator in the country has announced a new Rs 249 data plan, and has also revised its existing Rs 349 plan. The new Rs 249 plan is the third major tariff plan introduced by the company after addition of Rs 649 postpaid plan and Rs 499 prepaid plans.

Airtel is offering the new Rs 249 plan as an open market offer meaning anyone can recharge with the plan by heading over to My Airtel application or on the website. In terms of benefits, Bharti Airtel users will 2GB data per day for 28 days with this particular tariff plan. In addition, users will also get unlimited voice calls including roaming calls, and 100 SMS per day for a period of 28 days. With Rs 249 tariff plan, Airtel is basically offering a total benefit of 56GB of 4G data.

This new plan from Airtel counters Reliance Jio’s tariff plan priced at Rs 198, which also offers data benefits of 56GB. Airtel has also revised the Rs 349 plan, which now offers 3GB data per day, up from 2.5GB per day previously offered with this plan. The Rs 349 tariff plan competes with Rs 299 plan from Reliance Jio. In terms of benefits, Airtel users will get 84GB of 4G data for a period of 28 days, which is up from 70GB data previously available with the plan. It also comes with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day and there is also no limit for voice calls.

With the new Rs 249 tariff plan and the revised Rs 349 plan, Airtel is targeting customers who want a lot of data at a reasonable price. The new tariff plan from the company is on par with Reliance Jio, and this further strengthens Airtel’s existing plans which remain competitive against Reliance Jio.

The new plans join a list of plans including the Rs 499 prepaid plan announced recently, which offers 2GB data per day and has a validity of Rs 82 days and offers 100 SMS per day as additional benefit. It has also brought back the Rs 649 postpaid plan with unlimited voice and 50GB data on offer.
