Bharti Airtel has revised its Rs 649 postpaid plan by increasing the data benefit. The leading telecom player has only revised the Rs 649 plan and not the other cheaper plans priced at Rs 399 or Rs 499. There is a possibility that Airtel will update these plans in the coming days.

The revised Rs 649 postpaid plan offers 90GB of data during one billing cycle. The plan, which was reintroduced in April, had previously offer benefit of 50GB. Bharti Airtel is revising the plan to offer almost double the data benefits. The change in data pack could mean that Airtel will follow Vodafone to kill Rs 799 and Rs 1,199 postpaid plans, which are still being offered to customers.

With Rs 649 postpaid plan, Airtel now offers 90GB of data with data rollover option. The plan also comes with free local and STD calls, unlimited voice calls on roaming, 100 SMS per day, one free family child connection, free Airtel TV, Wynk Music and Airtel Secure subscriptions. This plan also comes with one-year of free Amazon Prime membership for its users.

Airtel is not making any changes beside increasing the data provided with the plan. With postpaid plan from Rs 649 or more, Airtel bundled child connection, where a user can add one more Airtel postpaid connection to their number and share the benefits. Earlier, Airtel used to charge Rs 99 for adding a new postpaid connection to the family plan but has started bundling it with select postpaid plan.

Bharti Airtel has not revised the Rs 399 and Rs 499 and they continue to offer 20GB and 40GB data respectively. There is a possibility that Airtel will revise these two plans to offer 40GB with Rs 399 plan and 75GB data with Rs 499 plan to rival Vodafone’s RED tariff plans. Vodafone recently introduced Rs 299 RED Basic postpaid plan with 20GB data.

Airtel might follow suit especially considering that Reliance Jio is also beefing up its postpaid plans. There are also reports of Airtel offering free subscription to Netflix with select postpaid plans in the coming months.
