Apart from unveiling the smartwatch prototype and SD card-sized computer Edison, Intel also revealed its plans of slowly phasing out the McAfee brand of software. Intel will be renaming it to Intel Security.
As seen in the photo above, Intel will still retain the McAfee shield on its Intel Security brand. While revealing the company plans, CEO Brian Krzanich also announced that McAfee anti-virus for mobile devices would be available for free. This security suite is available on Android devices and Apple’s iPhones and iPads.
“The complexity of keeping digital identities safe grows as mobile applications and devices become a more important part of our daily lives,” Krzanich said. “Intel’s intent is to intensify our efforts dedicated to making the digital world more secure, and staying ahead of threats to private information on mobile and wearable devices.”
Krzanich also revealed that they have developed something called Intel Device Protection technology, which will essentially protect one’s personal device at work place. More details about this service will be revealed later this year.
