CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House took the stage at the company’s ongoing event at CES to announce that they had sold more than 4.2 million consoles globally as of December 28. In comparison, Microsoft only managed to sell 3 million Xbox One consoles by the end of last year.
Since launching the PlayStation 4 in the US in November last year, Sony has launched the gaming console in various other markets worldwide including India in December last year. The console couldn’t have asked for a better start, with the company selling a million units on day one and two million in under two weeks. It was easily crossed its initial target of selling 3 million PS4 consoles by the end of 2013 and looks to easily reach its other target of 5 million sales by the end of the fiscal year.
