Chinese city cracks down on fake Apple Stores but for all the wrong reasons

Authorities in Chinese city of Kunming have cracked down on ‘fake Apple Stores‘ after an American blogger exposed one such store and was picked up by most blogs and mainstream media. Authorities found five self-styled Apple Stores in the city but shut down only two of them as they did not have a business permit to operate the store, according to a Reuters report. The shutting down had n0thing to do with their uncanny resemblance to Apple Stores and the other three continue to conduct business as usual. Officials have confirmed the stores were selling authentic Apple products and one of the stores, which was photographed by the American blogger, has applied with Apple to become an authorized reseller.
