Delhi Metro to get an official mobile app soon

Those who wish to travel by Delhi Metro will soon be able to access all the information regarding metro routes, various metro stations as well as fares between stations using their smartphones, as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is reported to be working on a mobile app. The DMRC has released a tender for developers with the last late of submission been set as March 28.

The application is expected to enable users to get information about all metro stations, the nearest metro station, timings of the first and the last train to these stations, fares and traveling time between various stations, routes of trains, metro Smart-card and more.

The app will also provide information on stations which have parking facilities. Moreover, it will help users find out landmarks and tourist places nearby the station of choice, give information on feeder buses from and to several stations, and will have helpline numbers for assistance, suggestions, complaints and feedback.

The app is expected to fetch all the data at the time of download, which will allow users to use it in offline mode.

Does the tender notice say anything about which platform/s the app will be made for? Because the number of smartphone OSes being used in India are quite numerous- Android, Symbian, S40, Windows Phone, iOS, BlackBerry 7 and now BB10. Samsung might soon launch devices with Tizen OS too.
