Dell launches the XPS 14 UltraBook in India for Rs 82,990
After announcing upgraded versions of the Inspiron series of notebooks and the XPS 13 UltraBook, Dell today has launched the XPS 14 UltraBook in India for Rs 82,990. Dell says that the XPS 14 features a 14-inch display housed inside an assembly traditionally used for 13-inch panels. Additionally, other design flourishes include a machined aluminum construction in silver with a silicon base including a machined aluminum casing and magnesium palmrest with a soft touch paint.
As is the case with most new notebooks, the XPS 14 features the latest Intel Ivy Bridge silicon with both i5 and i7 variants being offered with clock speeds ranging between 2.6GHz and 3.1GHz. The XPS 14 will also feature discrete graphics from Nvidia, in the form of the new GT 630M chip with 1GB of graphics. It will also have 4GB of RAM, which obviously will be upgradable.
For storage, the XPS 14 will offer a combination of a standard 500GB hard drive and a 32GB mSATA SSD, but Dell will also offer a 512GB SSD variant as well as a 500GB Hard drive version, which combines 128GB of SSD memory.
Dell is making a big deal of the 14-inch HD+ display, which has brightness of 400 nits and also is reinforced with Corning Gorilla Glass. Dell claims 10 hours of battery life on the XPS 14, which is very impressive on paper, but in our experience Windows Laptops rarely cross the 10 hour threshold, so it will be interesting to see how the XPS 14 holds up purely in terms of battery life.
