Around last week Blizzard Entertainment’s official Twitter handle made a cryptic tweet which sent the gaming world in an excited flurry. The tweet which can be seen below showed a Diablo themed lamp plugged in the switchboard being switched on and off repeatedly.

This may seem like a tweet just showing off the lamp, but the fact that it was being turned on repeatedly caught the eyes of people who surmised that this must be Blizzard’s way of teasing a Switch port for one of the most popular Blizzard games.
But when contacted by various news organizations Blizzard denied that there are any such plans in the making. But now, a Eurogamer story citing anonymous sources has confirmed that Diablo 3 is indeed coming to Nintendo Switch.
Despite this there have been no official announcements from developers, Blizzard about the possibility of a Switch port of Diablo 3. It does not want to spill the beans too early or could possibly be doing this at the request of Nintendo.
The possibility of this news being true is high because Eurogamer’s track record for breaking such news has been high. And besides, Diablo 3 is a very likely game to be ported to Switch due to some obvious reasons.
The games from Blizzard which are most likely to be ported to Switch include Hearthstone and Diablo 3. Diablo 3 has lower specs than most games today which makes it an ideal candidate for porting to Nintendo Switch. And with a local multiplayer support the game looks like an ideal candidate for the Switch.
Eurogamer sources were surprised by the tease and said that the official reveal is still months away. Blizzard has described the post as “a fun engagement piece”. And Nintendo usually announces its games relatively close to the date of launching which is quite the opposite of the fanfare that Blizzard likes. But for now, Blizzard Entertainment seems to be holding on their horses.
