We have seen the Apple iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9 duo, the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, all of them approaching the near-bezelless design. However, either a bezel for the home button or a notch for the sensor on top, something kept the design from being truly bezel-less. But a company called Doogee has made it happen.
The company has launched a smartphone called Doogee Mix 4, which instead of hiding cameras, sensors, and speakers in a thin bezel or notch, hides them using a sliding mechanism. It’s the 90s all over again, and hurray! YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss first shared a video of the phone, which shows off a dummy prototype of the device. We see smartphone with a 6-inch display, which he claims has been provided to him by the company. And boy is it truly all-screen!
The screen-to-body-ratio of the smartphone is said to be a whopping 97 percent. For reference, the iPhone X has a screen-to-body ratio of approximately 83 percent, and the Galaxy S9 – 84.2 percent. As seen in the video, the smartphone is divided into two segments of metal and glass. A thin front layer contains the screen, while all the other components are in the back.
So when you slide the screen down, you see the camera, speaker, and ambient light sensor, which in case of an iPhone X, are squished into the notch. Further, the video also shows a fingerprint symbol on the dummy display, suggesting it could come with the much-talked about under-display sensor. Quite naturally, because of the sliding design, the phone is thicker than most of the flagship devices you see out there.
It is highly likely that the smartphone will never make it to India, but whenever the smartphone is launched in the US market, it is anticipated to be placed in an affordable bracket. Also, the company is apparently is planning to use a Snapdragon processor for the smartphone.
